Norbert Meier musste seinen nach der gelb-roten Karte von Aachen gesperrten Kapitän Lambertz im Mittelfeld ersetzen, und er brachte dafür Marco Christ wieder von Anfang an. Gleichzeitig setzte der Chefcoach auf eine Flügelzange aus Patrick Zoundi und Oliver Fink. Doch zunächst einmal galt es die erste Minute zu überstehen, denn schon nach 59 Sekunden hätten die Gäste durch Allagui in Führung gehen können. Da nämlich bekam Düsseldorfs Hintermannschaft den Ball nicht aus der Gefahrenzone und der Ex-Jugendspieler der Fortuna prüfte aus der Distanz Keeper Ratajczak, der aber vom ersten Moment an hellwach war.

Fast im Gegenzug kam Fink nach einem feinen Heber vorne an die Kugel, doch er versuchte quer zu spielen, anstatt etwas mehr Eigennutz zu zeigen. Es war nicht die einzige Gelegenheit, in der Fink auffiel, wobei er zusammen mit van den Bergh ein starkes Duo auf der linken Seite bildete, das sich mit seinen Offensivbemühungen abwechselte. Das Spiel war geprägt von kämpferischem Einsatz und es verging eine ganze Weile bis zur nächsten Torchance. So hatte Martin Harnik nach 25 Minuten, nach einer Flanke von links, seinen dreizehnten Treffer auf dem Fuß, doch verpasste er knapp. Die Gäste spielten in diesen ersten 45 Minuten zwar gut mit, Fortuna gab jedoch klar das Tempo vor und stand in der Defensive bombensicher. Erneut war es Harnik, der in Minute 35, nach guter Vorarbeit durch Oehrl, gleich drei Fürthern davonlief, doch dann am Torwart scheiterte. Auf der anderen Seite brauchte das Team von Trainer Mike Büskens 37 Minuten bis zu ihrer ersten Ecke, doch auch diese brachte den Gästen nichts ein. So blieb es beim torlosen Unentschieden bis zur Pause, trotz der leichten Vorteile für die Fortuna.

Im zweiten Abschnitt kamen die Gäste dann besser in die Partie, Fortunas Flügelspiel wurde jetzt besser unterbunden und erst in der 57. Minute konnte Goalgetter Harnik überhaupt einmal auf den Kasten von Max Grün abziehen - ohne Erfolg. Auf der anderen Seite wäre es dann fast passiert, als Allagui, mit zehn Saisontoren der beste Gästestürmer, in der 69. Minute plötzlich der kompletten Düsseldorfer Hintermannschaft enteilte, Ratajczak gekonnt den Winkel verkürzte und das Leder dadurch glücklicherweise knapp am Gehäuse vorbei ins Aus ging. Das Spiel wurde in der Folgezeit zusehends zerfahrener und es rasselte gelbe Karten durch den Osnabrücker Willenborg. Norbert Meier versuchte noch einmal die Wende herbeizuführen, indem er den wiedergenesenen Jovanovic in die Partie (71.) brachte, doch spätestens nach der gelb-roten Karte gegen Johannes van den Bergh wurde es schwer das Fürther Abwehrbollwerk zu überwinden.

Die Rot-Weißen versuchten zwar die Serie von acht Heimsiegen in Folge fortzuführen und nach einem Solo von Harnik (80.) wäre das fast auch das noch gelungen, doch der österreichische Nationalspieler scheiterte erneut am Gästekeeper. So blieb es bis zum Schluss bei der Nullnummer, die mit einer gelb-roten gegen van den Bergh und der fünften Gelben Karte gegen Christ teuer erkauft wurde. Beide werden nämlich in der kommenden Woche beim Auswärtsspiel bei FSV Frankfurt fehlen.

Ex-Fortuna-Spieler und Neu-Fürther-Trainer Mike Büskens zeigte sich zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis: „Ziel war es, etwas mitzunehmen und das haben wir geschafft.“ Auch Norbert Meier konnte seiner Mannschaft keinen Vorwurf machen. „Wir haben in der ersten Halbzeit stark über linke Seite und lediglich die nötige Konsequenz fehlen lassen.“ Versöhnlich war auch das Schlusswort, in dem Fortunas Coach dem ehemaligen Fortuna-Spieler zustimmte: „Wenn Mike Büskens mit diesem Ergebnis leben kann, dann können wir das auch.“ Immerhin bleibt die Fortuna weiterhin die einzige Zweitligamannschaft, die zuhause ungeschlagen ist.


Goalless draw with ten players

It wasn‘t meant to be. Despite a strong first period with a lot of  pressure on the left side, Fortuna neither scored the lead nor set a new club record. The final product was a goalless draw Friday night against the third-best team in the second half of the 2nd Bundesliga. Especially in the second period of the match, the away team from Franconia were able to keep the game level even though they failed to produce many chances. By the time van den Bergh saw the yellow-red card, it became much harder to score the redeeming goal against well-settled Fürth. In the end, the goaless stalemate reflected  the performances fairly, an analysis which was shared by both coaches after the final whistle.

Following team captain Lambertz‘ yellow-red card in Aachen, Norbert Meier replaced him with Marco Christ in the starting lineup. In addition, the head coach favored a two winger attack consisting of Patrick Zoundi and Oliver Fink. But first, Fortuna had to survive the opening minute as the away side came close to scoring their first goal after 59 seconds through Allagui. The Düsseldorf defense failed to clear the ball out of the danger zone and from a distance the former Fortuna youth player tested keeper Ratajczak who proved to be alert from the start.

Almost as an immediate response, Fink received a nice chip but tried to send a pass across instead of executing himself. Fink made his presence felt in other situations as well. Taking turns attacking with van den Berg, both players evidenced their strong rapport on the left side. In a game dominated by physicality, it took a little while for the next chance to emerge. Harnik had his 13th goal at his feet after a cross from the left wing but only just missed the ball. While the guests were keeping up, Fortuna clearly set the pace and were well-organized on defense. After a great setup by Oehrl, it was Harnik again to escape three Fürth players in the 35th minute only to be subsequently denied by the goalie.

At the other end, the team coached by Mike Büskens didn’t get their first cornerkick until the 37th minute but failed to get anything out of it. As it was, the goalless tie remained until the break despite slight advantages on Fortuna’s part.
In the second half, the guest injected themselves more successfully into the game, surpressing Fortuna’s wing play far more effectively now. Thus, it was not until the 57th minute that goalgetter Harnik was able to put the next shot on Max Grün’s goal – to no avail. Fürth, on the other hand, were almost successful in the 69th minute when Allagui – their best striker with 10 goals under his belt - deluded the entire Düsseldorf defense but his finish luckily went just wide as Ratajczak cleverly narrowed the angle. From then on, the match turned scrappy yielding many yellow cards given by referee Willenborg from Osnabrück. Norbert

Meier tried once more to turn things around by putting in the recuperated Jovanovic in the 71st minute but by the time van den Bergh was issued a yellow-red card, it became tough to overcome Fürth’s defensive fortress.

Although the Reds and Whites almost succeeded in trying to extend their series of eight successive home wins through Harnik’s 80th-minute solo, the Austrian was again foiled by the away team’s keeper. As it was, the goalless draw stayed on the scoreboard through the end and came at great cost with a yellow-red card against van den Bergh and Christ’s fifth yellow card. Both players will have to sit out the away game at FSV Frankfurt next week. Former Fortuna-player and now Fürth coach Mike Büskens expressed his satisfaction with the result: „Our goal was not to go home empty-handed which is what we achieved.“ Norbert Meier, too, refused to fault his team: „We played very strongly over the left side in the first half and were only lacking the finishing touch.“

The final comments by Fortuna’s coach and the former Fortuna player were completely in agreement. „If Mike Büskens can live with this result, so can we.“ After all, Fortuna is the only Second Division team to remain unbeaten at home.
